Darius ran for Snowflake Intermediate Secretary!

Darius ran this week for Secretary at the Snowflake Intermediate School. I was so proud of him, he did this all on his own. Tuesday we spent the evening making posters for him. So on Friday he had to get up in front of the school and give a speech. Friday morning he asked me to look over his speech he had written and after reading I just couldn't change a word. Here was his speech:

"My fellow students I would like to be secretary because I would be a great one and help the school. I'd make school a fun and better place. I'd try to make us go on fun field trips like go to the Snowflakes or Show Low pool, Grand Canyon and the Meteor Crater and other really fun stuff but I would like to be secretary because I'd go to meetings help people and I would really appreciate everyone who votes for me and be really good students. I really want to do this job and I would be a good secretary. It would be a fun job. I like it a lot, but to all the students that don't vote for me it's ok because I know that the other people running for secretary would be great also. I would be okay if one of them won because I know they would do a great job for secretary. Thank you for listening and remember to vote for Darius for secretary."

Well he didn't end up winning, but he did a great job and I am very proud of him!

Well Robby also had a football game on Friday and they played Holbrook. He did really well, no touchdowns this game but he caught an Interception, a long pass where he got to the 1 yard line, several short passes, and he got several good tackles. They won 33 to 0.
This was from last weeks game.

Jessica and Emery playing Soccer!

Jessica and Emery both played soccer on Saturday. They played St. Johns, and they are really good. This was Emery's first game and did an excellent job she played really agressive and she is the middle half-back, for her first game she was amazing!
They lost 1-0. Jessica played right after and also did a great job...poor thing she seems to run all over the field, from one end to the other defending the goal since she is the left full-back, but she also throws all the balls in from the left side and does all the free kicks...and she is amazing kicking in with her left foot! They also lost 4-0.

No receivers return to the varsity. Seniors Gavin Russell (6-4, 190) and Travis Reddick (5-6, 135) and junior Robbie Martindell (6-0, 150) will be among the receiving corps.
“Gavin has good speed and incredible hands,” Larsen said. “We play him a lot at tight end, too. Robbie has good hands and good instincts and Travis is a good little receiver.”
It’s an entirely new offensive line, although junior Jason McCray (6-2, 230) did start start the final three games of the season at guard after spending most of the season on the junior varsity. He was hampered by a spinal injury last season but hopes to remain healthy as he shifts to center this fall. “He was one of the best players we had on our JV team,’ Larsen said He’s a strong kid and he’s a big kid.”
Junior Coltyn Reidhead (6-3, 235) is at left guard after seeing action at tight end in 2007, while senior Eric Mills (5-9, 255) takes over at right guard. Senior Terel Nichols (6-0, 195) and junior Tarrin Tanner (6-2, 165) are at the tackles. Tanner started the last three or four games there a year ago.
“If I had to pick between last year’s line and and this year’s, I’d take this year’s,” Larsen said. “Athletically and mentally, they’re better prepared as far as knowing the offense. We’ve had a year to train them. It’s one of the better crews that we’ve had in a while.
“I think we’re going to be explosive. We’ve got guys who can move. Having linemen who can pull, lead block and play anywhere on the field is going to be important.”
Most offensive starters will also start on defense. “Take everybody and flip them over and that’s basically where they’re playing,” Larsen said.
The linebacking corps is strong with all four of the returning starters on defense back there in the 3-5 scheme. Nichols (MLB), Matt Reidhead (left-side LB), Hoopes (right-side LB) and Hunt (left OLB) all started a year ago. Junior Dustin Richards (5-9, 150) joins them at right outside linebacker.
The starting defensive line consists of: McCray at nose guard, Coltyn Reidhead at one end and Tanner and Russell at the other end. Mills and senior John Damper (5-9, 250) add depth at nose guard. “They’ll rotate and make sure we can keep them fresh,” Larsen said.
Martindell and sophomore Trevor Reddick (5-6, 130) will play free safety, sophomore Brandt Perkins (5-9, 150) will move between linebacker and strong safety. Travis Reddick and junior Jacob Jaurez (5-6, 130) are the cornerbacks.
Matt Reidhead takes over the kicking and punting duties. “He can kick it in the endzone every time,” Larsen said.

Robby the Sports Zone Paper

Boy what a week!

Well this has been quite a week! It started with Michael's mom getting in a car accident here in Snowflake and she ended up passing away! It was so incredibly sad! Sara and Michael are doing well considering everything they have had to deal with in the last week. They are amazing!

Well Tyanne had a softball game on Thursday they played Show Low and they won 13-0. She did really good!

Friday was a fun and exciting day! It started out with Emery and I going to Show Low and watching Jessica's first game of her Soccer tournament. They played Round Valley and won 4-1. They played Kirtland and lost 4-0 also that day but we had to leave right after the first game to make it to Sedona to watch Robby's football game. Emery and I went to Sedona with Mom, Jared and Brenda.....we had a blast! We got there a little late trying to find the stadium just at the end of the 1st quarter. Josh and Amy also met us there, they got stuck behind an accident but they got there just after half time. When we got there the score was tied 6 to 6, and shortly after Sedona scored it was then 13 to 6. After that we scored several times....Robby made two great catches and an interception for a three touchdowns and Matt Reidhead scored several times as well as Travis and Trever Reddick. We eventually won the game at 55 to 13.

Saturday was the funeral for Michael's mom, Betty Winder, it was very nice. Jessica played the piano for one of the songs his brother Daryl Winder and his two friends Jason and Jeremy Owens sang. It was called "In the Garden", and they did a really nice job. The entire funeral was really nice. We then went to the luncheon and the BBQ was to die for! It was done by Dave Wood! That afternoon we went to the practice field and watched and played the kids with some of Michael's family play Street Football and that was a blast!
